You Can Now Control All Your Smart Home Devices on Google TV
Google TV is undergoing a major update, adding a new smart home panel that allows users to control all their smart home devices directly from their TV. This feature is currently rolling out globally on Google TV devices, including those from brands like Chromecast, Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Sharp, Panasonic, Toshiba, Konka, Skyworth, Changhong, Haier, JVC, Sanyo, Onkyo, AOC, BenQ, Blaupunkt, BPL, Croma, Daewoo, Elekta, Element, Ematic, Epson, Furrion, Grundig, Hitachi, Hisense, Hyundai, Insignia, JBL, JVC, Kodak, LG, Linsar, Lloyd, Loewe, Magnavox, Marantz, Metz, Mitsubishi, Nakamichi, Naxa, NEC, Nikkei, Noble Skiodo, Nokia, Onida, Optoma, Orion, Philco, Pioneer, Polaroid, Proscan, Pyle, QFX, RCA, Samsung, Sansui, Sceptre, Seiki, Sharp, Sylvania, Toshiba, ViewSonic, Vizio, Westinghouse, Xiaomi, Yamaha, Zenith, and more.
Users can access this panel via a shortcut on the remote control to view and control all connected smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats, cameras, doorbells, and more. Users can also use the Google Assistant voice assistant to control these devices, saying things like "Hey Google, turn off the lights" or "Hey Google, increase the temperature."
In addition to the smart home panel, Google TV has added a new sports panel that allows users to view scores and schedules of their favorite sports events in real-time. Users can see this panel on the Google TV home screen and select the sports and teams they are interested in. This panel displays the latest scores, schedules, news, and video clips, ensuring users don't miss any exciting moments.
Google TV has also introduced a new feature that allows users to pair their Google TV device with a Nest Hub Max smart display and use the Nest Hub Max's camera for video calls. Users can see the other person's screen on Google TV and control the call using the remote control or voice assistant. This feature currently only supports Google Duo and Google Meet applications.
These updates to Google TV aim to enhance the viewing experience, making it more convenient for users to enjoy smart home and sports content.
